This part-time seasonal position is responsible for supervising the recreation center staff in planning, organizing and implementing recreational activities for children, ages 5 -13 years old at the center. This position helps maintain a high level of customer service for the patrons of the City parks recreational centers.

Hours are generally 3 to 4 hours per day, Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends but extra hours may be required for special events.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. *Organize, instruct, promote, lead and conduct a diversified recreational program for ages 5-13
  2. *Plan weekly arts and crafts projects, team games, sports, social activities, low organized games and other activities in cooperation with co-workers
  3. *Inspect equipment and facilities daily to ensure that all materials and equipment are in safe working condition.
  4. *Reinforce proper social skills with children and/or teenagers
  5. Maintain responsibility for all required paperwork; timecards, sign-in sheets, requisitions, announcements and permission slips
  6. Supervise and provide basic training for activity aides and junior helpers
  7. Perform other duties as assigned

  8. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally
  9. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

  1. Minimum of high school diploma required; some college preferred
  2. CPR/First Aid Certified preferred
  3. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form
  4. A pleasant, friendly, and outgoing demeanor
  5. Experience in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook required
  6. Ability to handle a high volume of incoming calls while maintaining proper phone etiquette and a high level of professionalism at all times
  7. Willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned
